To apply for a driver's license, students must collect and present the following documents at their appointment: Required Documentation for Driver's License This is the general Minnesota DMV helpline and students may experience long wait times. If a student has questions and would like to speak to someone, they may call (651) 284-1234. The Mankato DMV is not accepting phone calls at this time, so students must schedule their appointment online. Click on "Schedule or Reschedule a Road Test or Class D Knowledge Test" to schedule an appointment. Scroll down to the "Appointments" block. Take your immigration documents and Minnesota State Mankato transcript with you to your appointment. Make an appointment to take the written test (or road test) at a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Testing Center. Study the MN Drivers' Manual to prepare for the written test. If you do not already have a driver's license, you will have to take a written test and road test. If you already have a driver's license, you will have to take a written test to get a Minnesota driver's license.
